Teen preacher Rev Victor Githu has addressed a recent video showing him sending his mother to go fetch him a glass of water as they both held a bible study session in their house.

As he prepared to speak, Githu is heard saying to his mother, "Can you get me some water? Tafathali." Without any hesitation, his mother replies "Yes", and instantly rises up to go bring him some water.

Interestingly, the young preacher now goes on to say, "I keep asking God for discipline," even as he, ironically, sends his own mother on an errand.

Dismayed Kenyans paraded online to berate the self-styled preacher and call him disrespectful and vain.

After much backlash, Githu has now moved to settle the matter and explain the circumstances surrounding the moment.

"To be completely honest... we all need to understand the concept of the whole video when I sent my mom to go get me water. I was not feeling well, my throat was a bit scratchy and I couldn't move because my hand is hurting," he wrote.

"But I still have to do whatever I felt like doing - preaching. In fact, I used the word 'please' in Swahili, thank you."

The preacher, who now is based in the USA and appears to have adopted a minty American accent, also doubled down on his statement by 'appreciating' his followers' concerns.

"I am very sorry and where there is a problem, we will fix it and make it better. I have definitely learned something new and thank you all for your patience," he posted on Instagram stories, "Thank you for your criticism, your judgement and your hate."
