President William Ruto is set to visit Murang'a County in a tour expected to showcase key development projects and government initiatives in the region.

Ahead of the visit, pro-government leaders have urged residents to turn up in large numbers to welcome the Head of State and maintain peace, citing the county’s gains from various development programmes under the current administration.

The leaders, led by Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome, said the President will commission and launch several projects across Murang’a, including affordable housing units and modern markets valued at KSh 27 billion.

Speaking during a women empowerment programme held at Mbiri Primary School grounds in Kiharu, the leaders defended the government’s track record and criticized the opposition for allegedly inciting residents.

They maintained that the administration is focused on delivering its manifesto promises to the people.

Sports Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi highlighted the benefits to the youth, noting that Murang’a has gained two international-standard stadiums with a capacity of 10,000 each. He said the facilities will play a key role in nurturing and developing local talent.

Also present at the event were Charles Karondo and Betty Maina. Women groups attending the programme received financial support in the form of cheques aimed at boosting their businesses.
