The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has conducted a search operation in Embu as part of ongoing investigations into alleged corruption at the National Youth Service (NYS).

In a statement issued on Friday, April 17, the commission said the operation took place at Mavvel Hotel in Embu Town and was executed following a court order.

The search targeted David Mbogo Muthee, the Head of Procurement at the NYS Training School in Gilgil, alongside his associate, Naftali Kiperu.

According to the EACC, the probe centres on allegations of conflict of interest and abuse of office involving senior NYS officials.

The individuals under investigation are suspected of conducting business with the agency through various companies, leading to payments amounting to approximately Ksh.2 billion between the 2019/2020 and 2024/2025 financial years.

The commission noted that the operation yielded crucial evidentiary material to support the ongoing investigations.

It added that upon completion of the inquiry, the findings will guide appropriate action, including the prosecution of those found culpable and the recovery of unexplained wealth and proceeds of corruption.
