Kenya and Angola have embarked on a groundbreaking partnership aimed at advancing telecommunications infrastructure and satellite capabilities across the continent.

According to Angola's Minister for Telecommunications, Information Technologies, and Social Communication, Engineer Mário Oliveira, the country is committed to working hand-in-hand with both public and private sector entities to maximize the benefits of the Angolan communication satellite, Angosat 2.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, Engineer Oliveira emphasized the importance of international cooperation and experience sharing in advancing Africa's space sector.

He highlighted the vast array of opportunities that Angosat-2 presents for ICT infrastructure development, agriculture, mining, construction, oil exploration, border surveillance, climate change monitoring, and sustainable economic development.

Moreover, Angola's space industry has extended an open invitation to both public and private players across Africa, with countries like Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and Zambia expressing keen interest in leveraging Angosat space technology for accelerated digital transformation and broadband connectivity expansion in remote areas poorly covered by terrestrial networks.

The commercialization of Angosat-2, authorized by Angolan President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, opens doors for innovative collaborations and investment opportunities in the ICT sector.

Kenya, a key player in Africa's technological landscape, has reciprocated Angola's enthusiasm for collaboration, with top Kenyan ICT companies already making inroads into the Angolan market.

Last year's visit by Angolan President Laurencio to Kenya paved the way for the signing of bilateral agreements aimed at strengthening government-to-government and people-to-people relations between the two nations.

The partnership between Angola and Kenya extends to grassroots levels, with Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Angola's Foreign Minister Teté António holding discussions on furthering cooperation in various sectors.
