One person was killed on Wednesday afternoon after being attacked by a mob in Masaka Village, Wang’aya 1 Sub-location in Muhoroni Sub-county.
Three houses were also torched during the incident after a
group of people descended on the village following reports of a missing person.
Wang’aya 1 Sub-location Assistant Chief Anne Anyango confirmed
the incident, saying a man had been reported missing from the Kabar area over
the weekend, with two suspects from Masaka Village detained by police over his
whereabouts.
However, a group of people stormed the home village of the
two suspects on Wednesday morning and set three houses ablaze.
Anyango said during the incident, a 45-year-old man who was
among the group that had raided the homes was attacked and killed by villagers
after his colleagues fled the scene.
She further stated that the body of the missing man was
later retrieved from River Nyando by officers from Ahero, who are investigating
the matter.
