Governor Kahiga, MP Oscar Sudi fire back at Malala over disciplinary warning
Nyeri
Governor Mutahi Kahiga and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi have hit back at United
Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malala over an earlier
warning to respect the party leadership and the presidency.
In
a social media post, Kahiga said Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who is also
the UDA deputy party leader, must be respected, reiterating his previous
remarks that the Mt. Kenya region will not sit back and watch the country’s
second-in-command get humiliated within the government.
He
went on to ridicule Malala, saying he is insignificant in the ruling UDA party and
should be kicked out as soon as possible.
"Ag
SG Malala in UDA is like a square peg in a round hole. He doesn't fit. I have
said it before and I repeat, we must get rid of him in the coming UDA
elections,” stated the Nyeri Governor.
“We
have come from an era of being gagged and threatened for speaking our minds.
UDA was never built on such tenets and the earlier our ANC acting SG in UDA
understood that, the better for him.”
Sudi,
on his part, stated: “Elevated MCA
suffering from illusory superiority, thinking he matches Raphael Tuju's calibre.”
Malala
had earlier on issued a letter warning several UDA members among them Kahiga, Sudi,
Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, as well as Cabinet Secretaries Kipchumba
Murkomen and Moses Kuria..
In
the letter, Malala said the said individuals were either disrespecting party
leadership and the presidency, or were engaged in political activities against
the laws of the land.
"Your
recent conduct not only undermines the party's unity but also disrespects the
leadership that you pledged to serve. Let this be a stern warning: desist
from such actions with immediate effect. Should this behaviour persist, the
party will take disciplinary action against you," Malala warned.
"Furthermore,
I urge the young politicians within the UDA who have prematurely begun their
campaigns for 2032 to halt these activities. Your current mandate is to serve
your constituents."
His
warning came amid rumoured disunity within the Kenya Kwanza alliance, with MP Sudi
and DP Gachagua openly clashing in different public functions.
This
came after Gachagua warned young politicians he said are close to President William Ruto from the Rift Valley against disrespecting him and the people of
Mt. Kenya.
Sudi
came out to hit back, saying he is not scared of threats and would continue to
traverse every part of the country as he so wishes.
