The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that a by-election for Ol Kalou constituency, in Nyandarua County, will be held on July 16, 2026.

In a Gazette Notice, IEBC said announced that all political parties intending to participate in mini polls shall submit the names and signatures of their candidates on or before May 4, 2026.

Parties intending to present candidates through indirect nominations shall submit their names on or before May 15, 2026.

The position fell vacant after David Njuguna Kiaraho passed away on March 29, 2026, while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.

Likewise, any public officer intending to contest in the by-elections will be required to resign from public office within seven days of the declaration of vacancy.

The campaign period shall commence on May 25 to July 13.

IEBC added that the registration and revision of voters for Ol Kalou Constituency will remain suspended until August 13, 2026.

This comes as the electoral body is also planning to conduct by-elections for Emurua Dikirr Constituency in Narok County. The position fell vacant after Johana Ng'eno diead in a helicopter crash, among five others, on February 28, 2026.

Other by-elections scheduled for the same day will be held in Porro Ward, Samburu County and Endo Ward in Elgeyo/Marakwet County to elect new Members of County Assembly (MCAs).
