Naomi Campbell, 51, introduces 9-month-old daughter: ‘She wasn’t adopted, she’s my child’
The model, 51, is the high society magazine’s March cover star where she poses with the baby and states that she is indeed the mother amid criticism about her age.
Without divulging details about the 9-month-old’s name and biological father, Campbell opens up about motherhood, saying that she decided to keep her parenthood plans under wraps.
"She wasn’t adopted – she’s my child," Campbell says, "I can count on one hand the number of people who knew that I was having her."
"But she is the biggest blessing I could ever imagine. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done."
Campbell adds that she is even encouraging her older friends to have babies: “I’m telling them all, do it! Don’t hesitate!”
In May last year, Campbell shared an Instagram photo of her hand cradling a baby’s foot, captioning it “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother.”
“So honored to have this gentle soul in my life there are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you my angel, there is no greater love,” she added.
The now-deleted post sparked online debate about whether the then 50-year-old had given birth, adopted, or got the baby via a surrogate.
There was also widespread speculation about how the baby was conceived, carried and delivered since the model had been photographed in previous months at fashion shows looking anything close to pregnant.
Campbell’s last documented relationship was with rapper Skepta in 2018 where the two lovebirds posed for a joint cover in British GQ. They later parted ways but Campbell stated she is 'on good terms' with him.
In 2017, Campbell was quoted saying that she was thinking of having children “all the time,” adding “but now with the way science is I think I can do it when I want.”
