Two suspects have been arrested in Mandera East Sub-county after police recovered four mobile phones believed to have been stolen during a security operation in Mandera Town.

According to police, the two suspects were arrested on Friday during an intelligence-led operation conducted in the Kona B area, where they are believed to have been operating as part of a local phone-snatching syndicate.

The National Police Service (NPS) said officers acted on intelligence reports and carried out a raid at a rented house suspected to have been used by the suspects. During the operation, detectives recovered four stolen mobile phones.

Police further revealed that the recovered phones were traced to their rightful owners, who were called to the local police station to identify and reclaim their property.

"The National Police Service remains steadfast in its commitment to serving and protecting the public. Operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks will continue across the country," the NPS said in a statement.

The police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies to help combat crime and enhance public safety.
