Modern Coast breaks silence on Naivasha bus fire incident

Modern Coast bus company has confirmed that one of its vehicles indeed caught fire near the Gilgil weighbridge on the Naivasha-Nakuru highway on Saturday.

In a statement to newsrooms in the evening, the company however assured that there were no casualties as all passengers on board the bus at the time of the incident were safely evacuated.

While noting that it is still looking into the cause of the fire, the Modern Coast management added that another bus was swiftly dispatched to pick up the passengers from the scene and drop them off at their respective destinations as planned.

“We are beholden for the instantaneous efforts that ensured everyone's safety. We dispatched another bus to take the customers and complete the journey that was cut short by fire eventuality. The cause of the fire is still under investigation,” read the statement.

“We understand this occurrence may have caused consequential inconvenience and distress and we sincerely apologize for any impact it has had on our customers and road users.”
