Man who threatened to kill his mother hangs self in cell using trousers: police

A man who was arrested after he allegedly threatened to kill his mother hang himself while in custody, police said.

The man identified as 40-year-old Alphonce Mutie is alleged to have used his trousers to hang himself.

His body was found hanging inside the Kilungu Police Station cells.

The deceased had been arrested at Kikoko the previous day after his mother lodged a complaint.

Kilungu sub-county police boss Antony Nderitu said they have  launched investigations to ascertain the cause of death.

The body has been taken to Kilungu Hospital morgue awaiting postmortem.
