Kabras are pursuing their sixth consecutive Enterprise Cup championship with Uganda's Stanbic Black Pirates standing on their way to a record-extending feat.
The Kakamega-based side advanced to the final after defeating Menengai Oilers 29-20 in the semi-finals while the Black Pirates, made history by becoming the first Ugandan club to reach the final since the defunct Kampala Rugby Club in 1970 with win over Nondescript.
“Kabras have the experience and the depth to retain the title. They are in good shape to face any team that why I believe they will be crowned champions,” said Wamoto
“They have faced very strong opponents and still dominated the game, winning them with huge margins. They are very experienced and they know how to finish off the games.”
Despite Kabras being favourites in Saturday's showdown, the veteran tactician has warned them against complacency, saying any slight mistake would be costly.
“Stanbic are equally a strong side, which is why they are in the final. It's a team that if you make a simple mistake, they will punish you so Kabras has to be perfect in every decision they make on the day.”
Kabras cemented their name in rugby history by thumping arch-rivals KCB 14-8 to hoist a historic fifth Kenya Cup title, equalling the legendary marks set by Impala (1970–1974) and Nondescripts (1978–1982) as the only clubs to win five consecutive league titles.
The feat also brought the Kakamega-based club to six overall league titles while extending their unprecedented unbeaten run in the competition to 54 matches.
