Lawyer Angela Mulwa, Nelson Masiga charged over Ksh.15M Range Rover theft

Lawyer Angela Mulwa and Nelson Masiga Makaralu have been charged with conspiring to steal a Ksh.15 million Range Rover Sport belonging to the Africa Institute of Mental and Brain Health (AFRIMEB).

The two appeared in court on Wednesday, where they were charged with conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to Section 393 of the Penal Code.

The prosecution alleged that, on an unknown date and at an unknown place within Kenya, Mulwa and Masiga, jointly with others not before the court, conspired to steal the motor vehicle.

They are also facing a second count of stealing a motor vehicle contrary to Section 278A of the Penal Code.

The prosecution alleged that on February 12, 2026, at the Kathangaita area in Mlolongo, Machakos County, the suspects stole a Range Rover Sport, registration number KDU 799Y, valued at Ksh.15 million.

The vehicle is said to belong to AFRIMEB and was parked at the homestead of Prof. David Musyimi Ndetei, a director of the institute and husband of slain psychologist Dr. Victoria Mutiso.

In an alternative charge, the two are accused of handling stolen property. The prosecution alleged that on August 1, 2026, Mulwa and Masiga were found in possession of the same Range Rover at Rose Residential Homes in Karen, Kerarapon 14 West, Nairobi County, knowing or having reason to believe that the vehicle had been stolen.

The two also face a separate charge of malicious property damage.

According to the prosecution, on February 12, 2026, at Kathangaita in Miolongo, Machakos County, Mulwa and Masiga, jointly with others not before the court, willfully and unlawfully damaged a dwelling house belonging to Prof. David Musyimi Ndetei, valued at approximately Ksh.56 million.

The court directed that a pre-bail report be prepared and presented on the next court date to inform its decision on bail and bond terms.

Mulwa and Masiga were ordered to remain in custody pending the next court appearance.

The matter will be mentioned on September 9, 2026, for the presentation of the pre-bail report and further directions on bail and bond.
