Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has warned Kirinyaga residents against joining parties allegedly formed by President William Ruto to divide votes in Mt Kenya region.

Speaking in Kirinyaga County on Sunday, Gachagua urged residents to stick with his DCP party.

"We have our party DCP; don't fall into the trap of William's party wheelbarrow. Our home party is DCP in Kirinyaga and it is our party to look for our government," Gachagua added.

He further warned that the parties are aiming to split the Mt Kenya vote.

"He is forming parties in Mt Kenya to divide our votes. Don't fall for it," he cautioned.

The DCP leader accused President William Ruto of using Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and CS Geoffrey Ruku to divide Mt Kenya region votes.

Gachagua also warned against hiring goons, saying he will disqualify aspirants who use them, despite their strong support.

"We will not allow aspirants to hire goons. If you hire goons, we will disqualify you, despite how popular you are," he warned.

The former Deputy President also accused the Ruto administration of extrajudicial killings.

"This government has killed our youths, injured them, and should be rejected," Gachagua said.

On her part, Kirinyaga Woman Rep Jane Njeri Maina accused the government of causing violence so that elections could be postponed, saying it would be impossible.

Kirinyaga Senator James Kamau Murango warned youths against being used by politicians to cause confusion.

Among the leaders who accompanied Gachagua were Gitonga Mukunji (Manyatta MP), John Kaguchia (Mukurweini MP), Geoffrey Wandeto (Tetu MP), Onesmus Ngogoyo (Kajiado North MP), Chege Njuguna (Kandara MP) and John Methu (Nyandarua Senator).

In Kiang'ombe, Gichugu, former Kirinyaga Woman Rep Purity Wangui Ngirici was again not introduced despite her supporters demanding it.
