Speaking in Nyamira on Saturday, Arama said he is not scared of Gachagua and his political manoeuvres within Nakuru county and the larger Mt. Kenya region, saying he (Arama) enjoys support from his constituents.
"Rigathi comes to Nakuru and demands that I abandon my party Jubilee where Matiang'i is vying for President, and join his party DCP. He threatens me that my constituency has many members of the Kikuyu community and he will mobilise them to vote me out," Arama said.
He reminded the former deputy president that he has been voted in three times by the same people, adding that even in 2022 when UDA was the preferred party in Nakuru and indeed the entire Rift Valley and Central Kenya regions, he still retained his seat under Jubilee Party.
"Rigathi has been threatening to have me removed from office if I don't support him, but I will not. I'm loved by my constituents and I will defend my seat in next year's election," a defiant Arama added.
He also drummed up support for Fred Matiang'i, the Jubilee Deputy Party Leader, who is eyeing the presidency alongside several other opposition figures.
Arama said every member of the Gusii community should rally behind Matiang'i, adding that all leaders seeking elective positions in the larger Gusii region should join the Jubilee Party.
"We are with Matiang'i to the end. Those not behind Matiang'i here in Nyamira and Kisii should be voted out. As Kisiis we need to support Matiang'i to the end," he further said.
Arama is serving his third term as Nakuru Town West MP. He was elected to parliament in 2022 under the Jubilee Party.
