A form three student at Ruthimitu Mixed Secondary School in Nairobi’s Dagoretti South is recovering after he was allegedly stabbed by a fellow student, leaving him with serious injuries.

According to the victim’s family, the student was stabbed in the stomach and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital, while the suspected attacker remains in police custody as investigations continue.

The incident adds to a growing concern over indiscipline in learning institutions, where students are increasingly finding themselves in conflict with the law.

Parents of the victim told Citizen TV they received a call from the school principal informing them that their 17-year-old son had been stabbed, though details of the incident were initially unclear.

The family was directed to PCEA Kikuyu Mission Hospital, where the student had been rushed in critical condition.

Upon arrival, they found that he had sustained a deep stab wound to the stomach.

The injured student, who is a class prefect, is reported to have been attacked while attempting to intervene in a fight between two students.

Police from Kabete Police Station arrested the suspected attacker, who remains in custody. If charged, he could face attempted murder or causing grievous harm charges. Detectives have also questioned members of the school management over the incident.

Efforts to reach the school principal for comment were unsuccessful, as he was unavailable on phone and not present at the school.
