Public Service and Human Capital Development Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has launched a sharp attack against opposition leaders, accusing them of lacking a clear development agenda for Kenyans despite having previously served in government.

Speaking during a tour of Moyale in Marsabit County, Ruku said many opposition figures had occupied senior government positions in the past but had little to show in terms of meaningful transformation and service delivery.

The CS argued that Kenyans should judge leaders based on their development track record rather than political rhetoric, insisting that the current administration remains focused on improving the lives of ordinary citizens across the country.

Ruku expressed confidence that President William Ruto will emerge victorious in the 2027 General Election, saying his administration’s performance and ongoing development projects will speak louder than political criticism from rivals.

According to the CS, the Kenya Kwanza administration has continued to roll out projects aimed at ensuring equal development in all parts of the country regardless of political affiliation or geographical location.

He noted that the government is investing heavily in public service reforms, infrastructure, and programs aimed at uplifting vulnerable communities while strengthening access to government services.

Ruku further challenged public servants across the country to uphold integrity, dignity, and professionalism while serving wananchi, saying Kenyans deserve efficient and transparent services from government offices.

The CS emphasized that public service should be people-centered and responsive, adding that civil servants must ensure citizens feel the value of government through proper service delivery.

At the same time, Ruku called on Kenyans who are yet to acquire national identification cards to take advantage of ongoing registration exercises and ensure they obtain the crucial document.

He said acquiring an ID card is important not only for accessing government services but also for enabling citizens to participate fully in the democratic process by registering as voters.

The CS also issued a stern warning to individuals allegedly soliciting bribes during the ID registration process, saying the government will not tolerate corruption or exploitation of citizens seeking the document.

Ruku maintained that registration for national IDs is a constitutional right and should be conducted fairly and transparently without unnecessary delays or illegal charges being imposed on applicants.

He finally urged those who have already acquired their national identification cards to visit registration centers and enlist as voters ahead of the 2027 polls, saying active participation in elections is key to strengthening democracy in the country.
