Governor Lenku says it was an act of betrayal for senior ODM officials to publicly campaign for a UDA candidate for the Kajiado gubernatorial seat, demanding an apology from ODM leader Dr. Oburu Odinga.
He warned that if Oburu fails to apologize and stop the trend of party leaders endorsing candidates from rival parties, he will lead the community to ditch ODM and join the Linda Mwananchi faction.
"My brother Moshisho (Martin Martine) is looking for a governor ticket from that party. A month ago you saw non-ODM allied leaders seeking votes for the governorship position. Metito. We are still waiting for an apology from those who wronged us to say sorry," he said.
He accused State House Comptroller Katoo Ole Metito of giving handouts to ODM members to join other parties, saying that it will prompt a mass exit from government-allied parties.
"There are leaders seeking money from Katoo to sell out ODM. The other says 10 MCAs defected from UDA to DCP because of Katoo's poor leadership. If we allow more to do that, then ODM will be weak in Kajiado," he noted.
The Governor added that it is a mockery for top ODM leaders to come to Kajiado and attempt to weaken the party that the ODM leadersmembers haves has rebuilt from scratch.
He noted that ODM in Kajiado had managed to secure several seats, including the governorship, parliamentary seats, and several MCA positions.
"You are dealing with a new Maa nationIt'sIt not the same one you that that would bow to threats. It knows its rights and will fight for them," he said.
