The body of a  26-year-old man from Karira village in Mwea, Kirinyaga County, who recently graduated from the  National Youth Service (NYS)  has been found in a mortuary by the family members, with his motorcycle missing.

According to an uncle, Simon Wanjohi Kariu, the deceased, James Macharia Waitherero, went missing on Saturday night and they had been searching for him since then.

According to Macharia's mother, Louise Waitherera,  her son went to Ngurubani with his friend's motorcycle but failed to return.

"I was told by his friend that he received a call from unknown people when he was in a local bar but failed to return, only to discover his body at Kerugoya mortuary. It is very sad," Teresiah Wanjiru, the deceased's aunt said.

According to Pastor Elijah Githuku, who is also the deceased's uncle, Gerald, the deceased's friend had taken the motorcycle on loan and was almost completing payments before it was stolen and Macharia found dead.

"We also want the police to investigate as we have reported the matter at Kiamaciri police station," Githuku said.

According to Simon Wanjohi,  a relative, who spoke after visiting Kimbimbi sub-county hospital, the family was told Macharia was brought to the hospital by unknown people on Saturday night unconscious and was rushed to Kerugoya hospital by the hospital ambulance where he died in the hospital.

"We were told the people who brought him to Kimbimbi Hospital later disappeared," he said.
