Equity Dumas’ Adika tips team to rise from weekend upset
Equity Dumas head coach Zadock Adika has tipped his charges to rise from the ashes following weekend’s twin losses in the men’s basketball premier league matches.
The bankers fell 51-72 to Ulinzi Warriors before suffering a
humiliating 62-68 defeat at the hands of fellow students, the Africa Nazarene
University (ANU) Wolfpacks at Nyayo Gymnasium.
“It wasn’t a good outing for us…but I believe the team has
learned from this and we are going to do better next time,” he explained. “We
are going back to the drawing board and to work on our mistakes and we will be
able to rise again.”
He at the same time attributed the loss to tactical
indiscipline.
“The game on Saturday was very physical and we were playing
in a very unfamiliar territory, we missed a lot of shots, free throws and as a
result we lost the game and also got some players suspended for both teams
which affected the Sunday match as we missed some of our key players which
forced us to introduce new ones,” Adika added.
The soft-spoken coach has however praised the new blood in
his roster, adding that they really impressed during their Sunday game against
ANU Wolfpacks despite the loss.
“The new players did very well. They gave us good shots as
they filled the positions left by those that had been suspended. It also gave
an opportunity for other players to showcase what they have, which is a good
thing, having new players in the court in the new season,” Adika concluded.
