Africa Nazarene University (ANU) basketball head coach Michael Oluoch has pledged to address the mistakes that led to mixed results for his teams in the Kenya Basketball Federation Premier League (KNBL) over the weekend.
The ANU Panthers narrowly defeated The Swish 49-48 in a hard-fought women’s game, while the ANU Wolfpacks suffered a heavy 42-79 defeat to NBK Phoenix in the men’s league.
“This week we are working on correcting our mistakes and making sure we are ready for this weekend’s games and we are good to go,” he said.
The soft-spoken tactician applauded the Panthers for registering their first win of the season, but admitted the men's team struggled with discipline and composure.
“The ladies played well, they had a couple of mistakes but at the end of the day they won the game. The men’s team on the other hand played badly, they lost their heads, frustration kicked in, and made a lot of mistakes that they were not supposed to make,” noted Oluoch.
He also confirmed the men's side will be without two key
players in upcoming matches following ejections during the loss.
“In the course of the game we ended up losing two players due to ejection, which will make them miss two of the upcoming matches which is a big loss for us but we hope to get wins,” he added.
The ANU Panthers now have 13 points from 12 games (1 win, 11 losses), while the Wolfpacks sit on 19 points from 13 matches, with six wins and seven losses.
