The
hearing of the Sharon Otieno murder case against former Migori Governor Okoth
Obado continued on Thursday before Justice Cecilia Githua.
Former Kanyidoto Ward Member of County Assembly Lawrence Mula, taking to the stands again, said Obado suspected that the former Rongo University student was also having a relationship with one of his (Obado’s) sons named Dan.
“He
(Obado) told me he was thinking that maybe Sharon met Dan and had some affairs
and it would be a taboo in Dholou to share a lady with your son or father,”
Mula said.
This
comes after Mula on Wednesday told the court that the former Governor had no reason to kill Sharon and their unborn child.
Mula,
while being cross-examined, said Obado had shared with his family that he
impregnated Sharon and that he was expecting a child with her.
Although Obado was not sure whether the unborn child was his,
Sharon had agreed to conduct a DNA once the child was born
"Everything
had been settled. I don't see why Obado would want to kill based on how things
went and the support he gave to Sharon," Mula testified then.
The court was further told that Sharon sent a photo of her baby
bump to one of Obado's sons called Dan on WhatsApp and asked her to send it to
his mother.
"Obado had already shared with his wife about Sharon,"
the court was told.
According to Mula’s Wednesday testimony, Sharon and Dan were
friends on Facebook.
Mula’s Thursday testimony was followed by that of Sharon’s mother
Melinda Ouma who also took to the stands.
Melinda
told the court that she did not approve of Sharon’s relationship with Obado,
saying; “My take as a mother, I told her that I don't like
relationships with politicians.”
She
further said that Obado did not accept the pregnancy, adding that Sharon was
allegedly given Ksh.30,000 to abort it but refused to do so.
