Two teachers have been arrested in connection with the case where a Class Eight pupil whose video went viral was allegedly assaulted at Nyamninia Primary School in Yala, Siaya County.

The pupil, who has been identified as Bravin Ochido, had allegedly been assaulted by his teachers for failing to attain 400 marks in the ongoing mock examination.

After the video went viral and sparked uproar from members of the public, the Ministry of Education commenced investigations into the matter which has now seen two teachers arrested.

According to a police report, the two teachers - Paul Osogo and Maurine Otieno - are currently being held at Yala Police Station where they are helping with investigations.

Gem Sub-County Police Commander Charles Chacha said it was reported that the 14-year-old boy was assaulted by the two teachers for attaining poor grades and that statements have already been recorded from at least eight other pupils and a P-3 processed.

The police boss stated that the two teachers will be arraigned in court on Monday to face assault charges.
