Embattled pastor Ezekiel Odero wants the court to allow him to withdraw Ksh.50 million from his frozen bank accounts to enable him to run his ministry and school.

In an application certified as urgent, Ezekiel also wants the court to review its orders freezing his bank accounts from 30 days to 15 days.

"The bank accounts serve as a lifeline for numerous disadvantaged individuals, and the act of closing them would unduly burden these individuals, condemning them to endure significant hardships and struggles," reads the affidavit.

He argues that freezing the bank accounts has caused financial and logistical hardship to the operations of Kilifi International School and New Life prayer Centre & church.

Before the Milimani law court, Ezekiel says that the financial overheads of running the church and school cannot wait for the lapsing of 30 days as directed by the orders issued by the court on May 8.

"The cash flow issues occasioned by the freezing of the Applicant’s accounts is causing a negative impact on the workers and students associated with New Life Prayer Centre & church and Kilifi international school," he argues.

On Monday, Mombasa High Court Judge Olga Sewe declined to grant orders to unfreeze Ezekiel's 15 bank accounts saying her court had no jurisdiction to handle the case.

The said bank accounts are at Equity Bank, Co-op Bank, KCB and HFC Bank.
