Over the past decade, more than 90,000 young Kenyan women have been empowered through comprehensive education and skill development, thanks to Standard Chartered's Goal Programme.

This initiative, part of the Futuremakers program, was implemented in collaboration with Women Win and Vijana Amani Pamoja (VAP).

The conclusion of the program was marked by a commemorative event at Standard Chartered's Nairobi headquarters, where stakeholders gathered to celebrate the profound impact the initiative has had on Kenyan communities since its launch in 2014.

The Goal Programme focused on young women aged 12 to 24 and made a significant difference in community dynamics by equipping participants with essential life skills, including financial literacy, leadership development, and health education. This holistic approach has sparked a ripple effect, with educated young women driving positive change within their families and neighborhoods.

"The Goal Programme reflects our commitment to empowering young women and promoting financial inclusion," said Joyce Kibe, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand, and Marketing for Kenya & Africa at Standard Chartered.

"In partnership with Women Win and Vijana Amani Pamoja, we've provided thousands of young women with financial education, employability training, and entrepreneurship support. As we close this chapter, our broader Futuremakers initiatives will continue to create opportunities for young women to lead positive change in their lives and communities."

The program’s success in Kenya is part of a larger global achievement, reaching over one million young women across 23 countries. This highlights the scalability and effectiveness of community-based educational initiatives.

"Women Win is proud to have partnered in this initiative, which harnessed the power of sport to educate and empower young women. Creating safe spaces for girls to build leadership skills and challenge societal norms has been a key factor in the program’s success," said Virginia Munyua, Programme Lead at Women Win.

"The Goal Programme has provided safe spaces for young women to grow, while also sparking positive change within their families and communities," said Enouce Ndeche, CEO of Vijana Amani Pamoja. "We are proud to be part of a partnership that advances the rights of adolescent girls, helping create a future where they can thrive without limitations."
