Kirinyaga Woman Rep Njeri Maina honoured in the UK

Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina has been honored in the United Kingdom for her outstanding contribution to youth and women leadership in Kenya, particularly through the Tupange Kesho program.

The recognition came during her recent visit to Milton Keynes, where she was warmly received by members of the local government and community.

Among those who welcomed her were MP Emily Darlington, Mayor Cllr. Marie Bradburn, Deputy Mayor Cllr. James Lancaster, Cllr. Tony and the SMK Gateway team, Cllr. Uroy, Cllr. Mohammed Khan, Group Leader Cllr. Jane Carr, and High Sheriff Kurshida Mirza.

Speaking during the event, Ms. Maina expressed her gratitude for the honour.

“I thank God for always leading me and giving me the grace to serve diligently,” she said. “We started the Tupange Kesho program as a commitment to serve the people of Kirinyaga, and we didn’t think much about having the work we do appreciated abroad.”

The Tupange Kesho initiative focuses on empowering youth and women through leadership training, mentorship, and economic opportunities.

Maina also acknowledged the unwavering support from her team in Kenya, noting, “Without you, the vision would not be achieved.”
