During a convention by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), held in Kakamega on Sunday, Junet confessed to bribery in the National Assembly and the Senate, which overwhelmingly voted in support of the impeachment motion.
According to Junet, Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot was the custodian of the money that was dished to Members of Parliament.
“Wakati tulikuwa tunafukuza Gachagua kazi, kuna kitu ilitembea hapo. Huko Bunge. Accounting officer alikuwa Aaron Cheruiyot,” he said.
He further claimed that some MPs did not put the money into good use, advising them to build good houses.
Junet further fingered an unnamed legislator for squandering his money with city girls, instead of investing in his home.
“Sasa wengine wanatuambia wako na watu, na wanataka kutupeleka kwa mtu sisi tuli-impeach, tulifukuza yeye kazi. Na unajua Waziri, wakati tulikuwa nunafukuza Rigathi Gachagua kazi, kuna kitu ilitembea hapo… huku Bunge, wacha niseme ukweli,” Junet added.
The statement has only stoked the Sunday fire, in a day that saw politicians from across the political divide takeover the day to sell their ideas to Kenyans.
Junet made the statements at the backyard of Cabinet Secretary for Co-operatives and MSMEs Development Wycliffe Oparanya.
As this was happening, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna led a Linda Mwananchi caravan in neighbouring Bungoma County, firing political salvo at President William Ruto who spent time at the Katakwa Diocese in Busia, during the consecration of the 4th Bishop of ACK.
"Kwani hii kuku iko na kilo ngapi haiwezi fika 12th floor,” Ruto responded to Sifuna’s sentiments over why Luhya community did not approve of Ruto’s affordable housing project.
