Kenya receives over 4.6 million COVID-19 vaccines doses from Germany & Argentina

According to a statement from the Health Ministry, 4.3 million doses of the J&J vaccine were received from the German government while another 400,000 doses of the Oxford Astrazeneca vaccines were received from Argentina.
The new consignment now pushes the total of vaccines so far received in the country to slightly above 18 million doses.
With a vaccination rate of at least 100,000 people a day, Kenya hopes to vaccinate 10 million adults by the end of December.
President Uhuru Kenyatta in his State of the Nation address had urged Kenyans to take their vaccines partlicularly in the light of the Omicron variant that raised global concern, spurred lockdowns and left nations on high alert.
Kenya had administered 7,583,134 vaccines by December 5 according to data from the the Health Ministry.
"Of these, 4,628,299 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 2,954,835," the Health Ministry said on Monday.
"The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 57.3%."
Proportion of adults fully vaccinated in the country now stands at 10.8 percent.
Nairobi leads with the highest population of those fully vaccinated, with 28.7 percent followed by Nyeri and Kiambu with 23.2 and 17.7 percent respectively.
In the rest of the counties, the cumulative trends and proportion of the fully vacinated is as follows: Laikipia 16.5%, Taita Taveta 13.8%, Murang’a 13.6%, Uasin Gishu 13.4%, Nyandarua 12.4%, Kirinyaga 12.2%, Kisumu 12.0%, Nakuru 11.8%, Kajiado 11.6%, and Mombasa 11.5%.
