Daniel Koikai: Double tragedy as Njambi's father dies on the day of her burial
The
family of the late popular Reggae MC and radio host Njambi Koikai has now been
hit by a double tragedy after her father was also pronounced dead.
According
to a family source who does not wish to be named, the body of Daniel Koikai was
discovered in his house on Friday morning, the very day Njambi was to be laid
to rest at the Lang’ata cemetery.
The
circumstances surrounding his death are however still unclear.
This
comes just a day after Mr. Koikai attended Njambi’s funeral service which was
held at the Nairobi Chapel, during which he termed her death as sudden and unexpected.
“Dear
Njambi, my daughter, the time has come for me to atone for my acts of omission
or commission on your final journey from this world. The large following you
were able to martial was a testament to your ability as an influential
personality,” he said in his euology on Thursday.
“Your
sudden and unexpected death cut short your very bright and promising career at
a time you had already entered the political arena, and having vied to be an MP
for Dagoretti South in the 2022 election where you came an impressive forth.”
He
went on to recount the good times they had together as a family with Njambi and
her mother, also acknowledging his absence from her life during recent years
and their attempts to reconnect.
“The instances where I failed you in many ways
to stand by you as you fought endometriosis, I regret immensely. It is too late
for regrets. I can only live with the reality that I failed you when you needed
me most, and I’m not proud of my behaviour at all,” he stated.
Mr. Koikai, in the tribute to his daughter, went
on to express his satisfaction that – in the end, albeit under sad circumstances
at her hospital bed – the two of them finally reconnected.
“At your bedside in the
hospital with your mother the night you left us, you told me that we were the
same blood and that you were glad I had come. We have been reunited and I hope
that one day we will be reunited again. May the Almighty God rest your soul in
eternal peace, Njambi,” he concluded.
