Ulinzi Starlets head coach Collins Ochieng is eyeing maximum points against defending champions Kenya Police Bullets when the two sides lock horns in a Kenya Women Premier League fixture slated for Sunday, April 26, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.

The top-of-the-table clash, dubbed the 'Maafande Derby' will see both teams hunting for maximum points to boost their chances of clinching the title. Only two points separate them, with Police leading the table with 46 points.

Trinity Starlets, Kibera Soccer Women, and Vihiga Queens complete the top five with 34, 28, and 27 points respectively.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Ochieng urged his players to stay focused and ensure victory in order to leapfrog Police at the summit of the league.

“First, I want to thank God for guiding us in training this week. The morale is high in the camp, and all my players are in good shape. I don’t have any injury concerns, which shows our preparedness ahead of the clash.

"Police are always tough competitors with great and talented players. We will give them the respect they deserve, but we are hopeful of securing a win. I urge all our fans to turn up at the Ulinzi Sports Complex to support us as we aim to win our remaining fixtures and clinch the title—something we can achieve if we maintain our focus,” said Ochieng.

Ulinzi has been boosted by the return of four key players who were away with the national team, Harambee Starlets, during the recently concluded FIFA Women’s Series at Nyayo Stadium.

The quartet includes Llorine Ilavonga, Mercy Airo, Sharline Nambengele, and Elizabeth Mideva.

“It’s a great boost to have the players back. I believe the experience they gained playing against some of the best in the world will fuel our push to win this weekend’s fixture and ultimately the league,” Ochieng added.

Elsewhere, Vihiga Queens will take on Kayole Starlets at Nyang’ori Grounds on Sunday.

Two more fixtures will be played on Saturday, with Trinity Starlets hosting Madira Soccer Assassins at Comboni Grounds in Gilgil, while Bungoma Queens travel to Zetech University in Mang’u to face Zetech Sparks.
