Two suspected gang members arrested in Nakuru

Residents of Kasarani and Salama areas have, in recent weeks, lived in fear amid a wave of attacks, theft and intimidation blamed on the gang, with homes broken into and livelihoods disrupted.
The situation, which had eroded the once peaceful coexistence in the area, took a turn today after officers from the National Police Service based at Elburgon Police Station conducted a targeted operation and arrested the suspected ringleader.
While in custody, the suspect led officers to a house in Salama, where a cache of suspected stolen items was recovered. Among the items were three pairs of military boots, seven KPLC token machines and several mobile phones.
Police also recovered a high-pressure car wash machine, four solar panels, television sets and computer monitors, believed to be proceeds of crime.
Further items included multiple national identity cards, gas cylinders, four electric iron boxes, a DSTV decoder, a motorcycle rim, nine pangas, several hammers and four Maasai rungus suspected to have been used in the gang’s operations.
All the recovered items have been secured as exhibits as investigations continue.
Police say the arrests mark a breakthrough in restoring security in the affected areas, even as efforts continue to apprehend other members of the gang.
