Kenya Sevens stars Kevin Wekesa and Patrick Odongo are set to light up the second edition of the Rugby Premier League (RPL) in India, with the tournament scheduled to run from 16 to 28 June 2026 at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad.
The two Shujaa standouts return to a competition where they made significant impact during its inaugural 2025 season in Mumbai, establishing themselves among the league’s top performers.

Their return signals Kenya’s continued influence on the global Rugby Sevens stage, especially in franchise-based competitions.

Patrick Odongo, who will once again feature for Delhi Redz, heads into the new season on the back of an impressive debut campaign.

The Daystar Falcons speedster scored eight tries, finishing sixth overall in the scoring charts, and played a decisive role in guiding his side to the final.

One of his standout moments came in the semi-finals, where he produced a dramatic last-minute try to eliminate Kevin Wekesa’s Hyderabad Heroes in a 14–7 thriller, earning Man of the Match honors.

However, the Redz fell short in the final, losing 41–0 to Chennai Bulls to settle for silver.
On the other hand, Kevin Wekesa, retained by Hyderabad Heroes, will be eager to build on a strong all-round performance that saw his side finish top of the league standings during the group stages.

The Kabras Sugar utility forward crossed the try line seven times, ranking eighth overall, and played a key role in securing a bronze medal after a 17–12 victory over Bengaluru Bravehearts in the third-place playoff.

He also picked up an early Man of the Match award in the tournament.

The RPL, recognized as the world’s first franchise-based Rugby Sevens league, continues to grow in stature.

Season Two will feature six men’s teams and introduce a women’s competition for the first time, further expanding its global appeal while attracting elite talent from the HSBC SVNS circuit.
