Rapper Octopizzo starts a juvenile prison reform program

Kenyan Hip Hop artist and philanthropist Henry Ohanga, better known by his stage name Octopizzo, has announced that he is starting a juvenile prison reform program.

The rapper made the announcement on Wednesday, a day after visiting the Kamiti Maximum Prison.

According to Octopizzo, the program is focused on ensuring the young people are heading towards the right path.

Octopizzo, in his statement, said he believes that for the program to be effective, there are different sets of training that needs to be given to both non-institutionalized and institutionalized offenders.

“The most effective interventions are interpersonal skills training, individual counseling, and behavioral programs for non-institutionalized offenders, and interpersonal skills training and community-based, family-type group homes for institutionalized offenders. Join us especially if you are a criminal attorney feel free to reach out,” he said.

Growing up in Kibera, Octopizzo is not foreign to the many ills of society and has always been vocal about wanting to empower the youth into realizing their potential.
