PS Oluga confirms Ksh.3B Hospital plan for Kisii, Nyamira

Speaking during a visit to Kisii, Oluga said a major Level 5 hospital is set to be constructed in the county following a directive from President William Ruto.

Principal Secretary for Medical Services Dr Ouma Oluga has reaffirmed the National Government's commitment of Ksh.1.5 billion towards hospital projects in Kisii County, alongside a similar allocation for Nyamira County, as part of continued partnerships with county governments to strengthen healthcare infrastructure.

Speaking during a visit to Kisii, Oluga said a major Level 5 hospital is set to be constructed in the county following a directive from President William Ruto.

"Here in Kisii, a very big hospital is coming, which the President, Dr William Samoi Ruto, has directed us to build," Oluga said, speaking in Swahili.

He said the Kisii governor had, a day earlier, signed the Intergovernmental Participatory Agreement (IPA), the framework document guiding joint implementation of the project between the national and county governments.

According to Oluga, Ksh.1.5 billion has been set aside for the Kisii hospital project, with an equal amount allocated for a similar facility in Nyamira County.

He said he had recently held discussions with the Kisii governor on the completion of an ongoing mother and child hospital in the county, a matter he later raised with President Ruto

"He gave the directive to bring the beds. I have told the First Lady about this, and the process is already underway, we will bring the beds for the mothers," Oluga said, referring to the maternity beds for the mother and baby referral hospital.
