President William Ruto has condoled with the family and friends of the late Gengetone music producer and artist Byron Kivisi alias Byron Papi.

In a tweet on Thursday, Ruto said he was saddened by the death of the renowned producer who was first introduced to him during the recording session of the hit song 'Sipangwingwi'.

"Deeply saddened by the death of music producer and artist Byron Muhando Kivisi. Byron was first introduced to me by music sensation Xray during a music recording session of the hit song Sipangwingwi at the Deputy President’s residence in Karen," he said.

While acknowledging his undeniable talent, Ruto also reminisced of Byron's calmness and collected demeanour noting that he had unfortunately gone too soon.

"I recall with fondness his calm and collected demeanour, but more importantly his immense talent that made him an acclaimed music producer. It is disheartening that we have lost Byron at a prime age. We are comforted by the fact that his works of art will live on," President Ruto said.

"To the family, friends and fans, accept our sincere condolences. Rest In Peace, Byron."

Byron's sudden death shocked many in the music industry as his family struggled to come to terms with the loss.

While expressing their tremendous sadness, the family later gave details on what led to his demise in a statement that was made public.

Byron worked with some of the most renowned rappers in Kenya, including Ssaru, Mejja, Trio Mio, and ExRay.
