A 50-year-old man in Kioo village, Kuresoi North Sub-County, is suspected of killing his wife and concealing her dismembered body in sacks.

Samuel Nyarinda allegedly murdered his wife, Everlyn Nyarinda and held the body parts inside his house.

Speaking to Chamgei FM, the deceased’s sister, Elizabeth Nyanchera, said the family received the shocking news on Saturday.

According to Nyanchera, the suspect called their daughter on Saturday morning, claiming her mother was missing and had run away with a mattress and blanket.

"We tried searching for her without success and made calls, but the phone was not being picked up," Nyanchera said.

"So, we had to storm his house to ask about his whereabouts, but he was hesitant and started to threaten us."

She added that upon forcing their way into the bedroom, they discovered body parts packed in 5 cement bags.

A police report further indicated that the suspect drained Elizabeth’s blood into a 5-litre yellow plastic container.

“A suspected murder weapon, a blood-stained axe with a wooden handle, was recovered at the scene among other items and kept as an exhibit,” a police report indicated.

Area Assistant Chief Daniel Korir said the family had a long-standing domestic problem that had seen them seek police intervention.

They had to live separately: she in the kitchen and her husband at the main house, 100 metres away.

Kuresoi North OCPD John Mutai has confirmed the incident. He said police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who is still at large, to face the law.

The incident has left the community in shock as investigations continue.
