The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced a licence revalidation exercise for all tow truck owners and motor vehicle dealers (new and second-hand) to enhance compliance with the law.

In a notice published in the local dailies, NTSA's Director General explained that the exercise will kick off on Monday, November 11, and will end on Friday, November 22.

All operators are thus directed to complete and submit an online form on the NTSA website before Wednesday, November 6.

To enhance transparency in the exercise, the NTSA team will conduct a physical inspection of the operators premises to verify the information submitted through the online forms.

"The accuracy of the information provided will be of utmost importance to avoid any inconveniences," the notice read in part.

The exercise is in line with Section 24 of the Traffic Act Cap 403 that grants NTSA the mandate motor vehicle and motorcycle dealers.

Through the exercise, NTSA seeks to enhance compliance with traffic laws and regulations. Last month, the Authority suspended at least 121 Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) for flouting the laws.

The order saw buses belonging to the affected saccos impounded with the public warned against boarding them.

Some of these saccos included Kinatwa Prestige Limited, Overseas Courier Resort Limited, Pelican Sacco Limited, Crown Bus Limited, Periska Transport Sacco Ltd, Quickbus Tablet Ltd, Prestige Comfort Co. Ltd among others.

"Members of the Public are hereby advised not to board vehicles belonging to the suspended saccos/companies. The Traffic Department has been advised to impound any vehicles to the 121 Saccos found operating contrary to the suspension," the notice read in part.
