Mudavadi dismisses Sudan's allegations of Kenya providing military weapons to militias

On Monday, June 23, Sudan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement accusing Kenya of supporting the terrorist militia, Janjaweed (responsible for criminal acts in the country) and the RSF Militia by providing military supplies. 

In response to the allegations, CS Mudavadi stated that the claims reflected an outdated strategy of internal challenges within a country. Instead, he advised the Sudanese government to focus its resources on developing the country. 

"As often observed, the most difficult but necessary journey is the one within. We therefore urge the SAF to focus on internal stability, rather than expending scarce resources and energy on imagined external adversaries," the statement read in part. 

He added that solutions to restore stability in Sudan ultimately rest with the Sudanese people, pointing out that warring parties should embrace dialogue to chart the nation's future.  

"Unfortunately, no amount of scapegoating or repeated blaming of other states will alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people. It is time for the parties to the conflict in Sudan to assume full responsibility and commit to restoring civilian rule, peace and security for the benefit of the Sudanese people and the wider region," he noted. 

While addressing Kenya's role, Mudavadi stated that the government has remained active in mobilising international support for Sudan. He denied allegations that Kenya interfered in Sudan's internal affairs. 

"Therefore, in partnership with strategic allies, including the United Arab Emirates, Kenya will continue to champion efforts that promote peace, stability, and a sustainable, inclusive resolution to the conflict," he said.
