Moi University workers have strongly protested over their unpaid salaries, calling on the government to urgently intervene.

Addressing the press in Eldoret, led by the Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU), Moi University chapter secretary general Robert Otweri, they noted that they have not received their March salaries as they struggle with the hard economic times.

They accused the Moi University management of issuing threats to the staff instead of resolving their issues, saying the salary arrears and other statutory deductions have accumulated up to Ksh. 10 billion now.

According to Mary Chepekemoi, Kenya Universities Staff Union (KUSU) chapter secretary general, a return-to-work formula signed by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba and Principal Secretary Beatrice Inyangala last year is yet to be fulfilled.
