As a way of teaching students about the importance of inculcating a culture of peace, the Cohesion commission has adopted peace clubs to run in schools.
The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) said the clubs, dubbed 'Amani clubs' would be started in learning institutions from primary level to higher learning institutions to educate and motivate learners to co-exist peacefully.
Speaking in Migori, Eunice Owino, a coordinator of the peace clubs, schools make for good training grounds to foster an attitude of living in harmony.
“Mtoto umleavyo ndivyo akuavyo. Usipolea mtoto kama anajua amani, hatakuwa akijua amani (teach a child in a way and they will not depart from it)," said Eunice Owino.
The government called for uptake of the programmes.
