LeBron opts out of his contract to be a free agent

LeBron James has opted out of his USD21.6 million contract to become a free agent but intends to re-sign with his current team the Cleveland Cavaliers.
This is the third time that LeBron, 30, will be an unrestricted free agent and is set to sign a new maximum contract that will see him earn more as a new USD24 billion NBA TV deal kicks in.
Cleveland Cavaliers General Manager David Griffin is quoted by ESPN saying that the team had been in regular contact with LeBron since the end of the NBA finals and was very engaged in discussions about his future with the Cavs.
LeBron,an NBA four-time MVP has already earned USD64.6 million from his USD20.6 million salary and endorsements this season after he signed a two-year USD42.1 million contract from Miami Heat.
He led a charged Cavaliers team for 6 breath taking rounds at the NBA finals against the Golden State Warriors before the Worriors point guard Stephen Curry catapulted the Golden State for their first title since 1975.
