Lamu: Two killed, several houses torched in night attack at Majembeni

Locals in Juhudi,Salama and Widhu in Majembeni, Lamu County spent the night in the cold following heavy gunfire.

Residents fled their homes, opting to spend the night in schools, at the market in Kibaoni with others spending the night in the forest.

This follows an attack that saw assailants fire several rounds of ammunition overnight prompting locals in Majembeni to flee the area.

Last week, the government imposed a 30-day dusk-to-dawn curfew on areas affected by insecurity in Lamu County.

The curfew follows the recent surge of terror attacks in the region.
