Charles Owino appointed gov't spokesperson in President Ruto's latest reshuffle

In a statement announced by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei on Tuesday, Owino was redeployed from the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, where he had been serving as acting Head of Government Communications.

Former Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura was reassigned to head the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Disability Rights in the Executive Office of the President.

Meanwhile, President William Ruto nominated Dr. Duncan Ojwang Oburu for appointment as the chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), subject to parliamentary approval.

Former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion and Antonina Lentoijoni were also nominated to serve as members of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). Flora Mutua was nominated as a member of the Public Service Commission.

The President further forwarded the names of seven nominees to serve on the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC), pending approval by the National and County Government Coordinating Summit.

The nominees are Wilson Kuria Thuita (Murang'a), Silvya Apaa (Busia), Ahmed Kanyara Bishar (Wajir), Pascalyne Ntang'enoi Kimiriri (Laikipia), Ken Riaga (Migori), Evalyn Chepkirui Aruasa (Nakuru) and Mary Nanjala Kilobi, the wife of COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, who is representing Nairobi County.
