Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has suspended 10 county government officials over the alleged theft of Ksh.51 Million from the county’s kitty.

According to Kingi, the 10 are implicated in the fraudulent transfer of public funds to the accounts of five companies: Makegra Supplies Limited, Zohali Services Limited, Kilingi Investment Company Limited, Leadership Edge Associates Limited and Daima One Enterprises.

Addressing residents of Kadaina Island in Kilifi North while opening a health facility in the area, the Kingi said that county officials had conspired with the three companied to fleece the county of the cash.

Stating that he would not allow public cash to be stolen under his watch, the governor called on the IFMIS department, the Ethics and Anti- Corruption Commission (EACC),the Criminal Investigative Department(CID) and the Anti-Banking fraud Unit to launch investigations into the theft.

In the same breath, Kingi warned all county officials against getting involved in corrupt dealings, adding that culprits will face the full force of the law.

Additionally, Governor Kingi called for the arrest of Kilifi North MP Gideon Mungaro over Chembe Kibabamche the land scandal.

He pleaded with the national government and Jubilee party to stop entertaining leaders implicated in graft scandals.
