Kimani happy to end Ulinzi Stars winless run

Ulinzi Stars head coach Anthony Kimani is hoping
that their first win of the season last Sunday brought to an end a bad spell which
had seen the Soldiers experience a woeful start to the FKF-Premier League new
campaign with three consecutive defeats.
Kimani secured his first victory as the boss of
Ulinzi Stars since he joined the 2008 champions early last month, defeating
Sofapaka 1-0 through Boniface Muchiri’s brilliant freekick at Sports Complex in
Lang’ata.
The former Bandari boss believes that the win has
given the military a new lease on life as they prepare to face Muhoroni Youth
this weekend.
Muhoroni Youth, formerly Wazito FC, have also
recorded a single win this season and they lie position 14 with three points,
level with their Saturday’s opponents Ulinzi although they have a superior goal
difference.
“This was a very important win considering that we
had gone for three matches without a win. First wins are always hard to come by
and it requires a lot of effort and concentration from the boys and a lot of
belief in their abilities despite not doing well in our past games.
“But everyone who has been playing has been giving
his all to make sure that we get maximum points,” said Kimani.
The former AFC Leopards tactician took over the
Ulinzi Stars reigns at the beginning of the season and have had a string poor
results falling to Nzoia Sugar, Gor Mahia and Bandari FC respectively.
“I believe every team from time to time goes
through a tough spell but we knew if we weather that period by remaining united
and still remain with the belief that we can still do well as we know we can.
“The team has a pool of quality players and we
were sure it was not reflected in the results that we have posted so far and we
hope to build on the win against Sofapaka.”
