Residents of Muguga in Kikuyu Sub-County are calling for urgent government intervention as a fire at a suspected industrial waste site continues to pollute the area.

The blaze has burned for a third straight day, sending thick smoke and potentially toxic fumes into nearby neighbourhoods.

The waste is believed to include by-products from rubber manufacturing, with residents reporting breathing difficulties and expressing fears over the long-term health effects of the pollution.

They say repeated appeals to environmental authorities have gone unanswered.

Some families have since relocated to safer areas as the smoke persists.

Residents are now urging the relevant agencies to extinguish the fire, investigate the source of the waste, and take immediate action to protect public health.
