Born in May 2014 in the Moniko Pride of Olare Motorogi, Kibogoyo, meaning "the toothless one", he shall remain a household name in the world of the wilderness.
For twelve years, his life was tied to the story of a remarkable group of male lions who became known as the Six Pack.
The six brothers grew up together, shared the same landscape, and faced the same challenges in the wild, in territories where young rivals persistently dared to challenge them.
Kibogoyo's unforgettable face stood out in Angama's fresh wilderness, with different-coloured eyes and a serious scar on his left ear.
In May 2026, the Mara Predator Conservation Programme reported that the R5 males, also known as the Rongai Boys, were steadily gaining ground on Rekero Pride territory, then held by the Bila Shaka males.
By September this year, Predator Watch reported that the Rongai Boys had displaced the Six Pack and taken over the Rekero Pride.
For now, Kibogoyo's cause of death remains unknown, although his old age makes natural death a possibility.
