Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) has confirmed that the second edition of the Kenya Cup volleyball championship will be staged from January 15 to January 18, 2026, at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.
The announcement officially sets the calendar for the
2025–2026 Kenya Cup, with both men’s and women’s categories scheduled to
compete.
KVF further announced that the drawing of lots for the
tournament will take place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the KCB Sports
Club.
The exercise will determine the official matchups for the
competition, with fixtures expected to be released immediately after the draw.
Teams and stakeholders have been urged to take note of the confirmed venue and
dates and finalize their preparations in good time.
The Kenya Cup is a relatively new but important addition to
the country’s volleyball calendar. It was introduced to run alongside the
national league, offering clubs more competitive matches, increased exposure,
and a structured pathway for talent development as Kenyan teams prepare for
regional and continental competitions such as the African Club Championship.
The inaugural edition of the Kenya Cup was launched in
January 2025 and concluded in July 2025, featuring 17 teams across both the
men’s and women’s categories. Matches were mainly held at the Kasarani Indoor
Arena and Nyayo National Stadium, with the finals staged at the Moi
International Sports Centre Indoor Arena in Kasarani.
The first-ever champions were the KCB Women’s Volleyball
Team and General Service Unit (GSU). KCB claimed the women’s title after a
dominant 3-0 victory over regular season champions Kenya Pipeline, winning
25-16, 25-19, and 25-22 in the final. In the men’s final, GSU produced a
remarkable comeback to defeat Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) 3-2 after rallying
from two sets down.
Individual excellence was also recognized during the
inaugural tournament, with GSU’s Simon Kipkorir named the Men’s Most Valuable
Player and KCB’s Terry Tata earning the Women’s MVP award. GSU’s triumph was
particularly significant as it completed a domestic double, adding the Kenya
Cup title to their record-extending 16th league crown.
With the draw venue and tournament dates now confirmed,
anticipation is building as clubs prepare to battle for honors when the second
edition tips off in mid-January at Kasarani.
