KCB RFC assistant coach Andrew Amonde says they are determined to win this season's Enterprise Cup despite having a walkover on Saturday against Daystar University, who failed to turn-up for the fixture.
Speaking to Citizen Digital Amonde said the team has gained more experience and have enough depth in their squad to go head to head with the defending champions Kabras RFC who have dominated the tournament for the last three years.
“We are determined to win this competition Kabras have been
dominant in the recent years and I believe we have a squad that can handle any
opponent and this competition is one of our targets this season,” said Amonde.
This season introduces a new format to the Enterprise Cup,
with the four Kenyan teams that progress from the local quarter-finals set to
face four Ugandan sides in cross-country quarter-final ties, something the
coach says will offer new experience to the players.
“This format offers a new challenge to the teams - both in Kenya
and Uganda - it will offer growth to the players and improve the state of rugby
in both countries,” added Amonde.
The quarterfinals pairing have been confirmed and will take
place on February 7, 2026. The five-time champions Kabras Sugar RFC will
headline the round when they face Kenya Harlequin while Menengai Oilers will
take on Nakuru RFC, Nondescripts RFC will host Strathmore Leos while KCB will
be up against KU Blak Blad.
“Our players have matured and we have enough depth in the team at the moment, I know if we continue with the form we are in today a lot of good things will come our way,” stated the former Shujaa captain.
