Kariobangi Sharks encountered a tough challenge as they were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Talanta at the Police Sacco Stadium on Sunday.
Sharks found themselves accountable for the draw, despite recording the most shots on target in both halves. Geoffrey Onyango's attempt from a Julius Masaba cross in the 32nd minute went wide, while Keith Imbali failed to connect with an Eric Mata through ball.
However, Kariobangi Sharks quickly turned the tide when Peter Mungali found the back of the net from a well-executed corner in the 42nd minute.
Despite a spirited push from the visitors for a second goal, substitute Joshua Amunike and Michael Jairo missed clear headers, leaving the match level.
With just fifteen minutes remaining, Talanta FC's Fortune Omoto delivered a precise pass to the match MVP Mark Makwatta, who skillfully rounded the keeper before calmly slotting the ball into the empty net, equalizing the scoreline.
Reflecting on the outcome, Sharks' coach William Muluya acknowledged the positives despite the dropped points.
"It's hard to claim we deserved to win, given that we trailed by a goal," Muluya said.
"While there's always pressure when chasing a deficit,
I believe this point will prove valuable in the long run," he added.
"We squandered numerous chances in the final third, and
our execution didn't align with our strategic approach," Kenyatta
remarked.
